EPIC MISSION STATEMENT The administration and faculty at W. P. Davidson High School are determined to prepare students for a future of opportunities. The Engineering Pathways Integrated Curriculum (EPIC) will equip students with the knowledge and analytical thinking skills needed to succeed globally in any math or science field , including a degree in engineering. E WEEK Davidson's Engineering Week - E Week - activities will be in February this year. Activities will include engineer guest speakers, social events, and a culminating project competition. Student s will work in teams to design an apparatus with a given set of resources and compete on design and effectiveness. NEW ENGINEERING PROGRAMS Davidson's EPIC program launches three exciting new programs this year. First, phase one of our engineering lab is complete. Supported by a state grant as part of the Alabama Engineering Academy Initiative, we have partnered with the College of Engineering at the University of South Alabama. South Alabama has fabricated several pieces of equipment for the lab. The lab is also enjoying the support of Representative Janie Ison and Senator Ben Brooks, who have made grant donations to the program. Phase two of the lab is currently in progress, but the lab is ready for students to use. In addition to the Alabama Engineering Academy Initiative and the new lab project, we are also involved in an exciting new program sponsored by the Mobile Area Education Foundation: Engaging Youth in Engineering, or EYE. Sponsored by MAEF as well as the Bedsole Foundation, Alabama Power, and other area businesses, EYE is a K-12 curriculum being piloted in Davidson's attendance zone which culminates with students coming into the EPIC program well-prepared for a challenging math and scienc curriculum.
