This summer, Emma Powell and Juli-Anna Fulton, two of Davidson's Azalea Trail Maids, went on a memorable trip that took an unexpected turn! Although the group was scheduled to participate in three parades, an extreme heat wave led to all of them being canceled. Instead, the Trail Maids embraced the adventure and spent the Fourth of July exploring New York City. From making the most of a changed itinerary to creating unforgettable memories, these Warriors showed that sometimes the best experiences come from the unexpected. We love seeing our students represent our community wherever they go!
Rising Davidson High School senior Alex Choi is making the most of his summer by celebrating a major achievement! Alex earned a Gold Key in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for his original short story, an honor that recognizes outstanding creative work and marks an exciting milestone in his journey as a writer.
As he prepares for his senior year, Alex is looking forward to taking on new challenges, continuing to grow as both a writer and artist, and getting ready for the next chapter: college.

This summer, Davidson High School brothers Logan and Garrett Philips are putting service into action! Logan, a senior in the IB and EPIC programs, and Garrett, an incoming sophomore in pre-IB and EPIC, spent a week in Tuskegee with Alabama Rural Ministries, repairing roofs, tackling yardwork, and serving at a summer camp for local children. Working alongside youth from Mobile and Fort Walton Beach, they braved the Alabama heat to help strengthen homes and communities.
"It was a great opportunity to interact with people from Tuskegee, and to get to help people who are in tough spots," Logan shared. Garrett added, "The children were nice and eager to learn, and we had a blast with them."
The brothers also found time for some unforgettable summer experiences, including watching Lionel Messi score in a pre-World Cup friendly match near Auburn! Back home, both volunteered at Dauphin Way UMC's Vacation Bible School, while Logan completed an internship with the MCPSS Career-Technical Education Division and Garrett continued swimming with the Oakwood Stingrays.
As the school year approaches, Logan is looking forward to Senior Sunrise and making memories with the Class of 2027, while Garrett is excited to begin his first year as a Warrior.

Davidson High drum majors Stanley Dees and Dylan Vo kicked off their summer at Auburn University’s Annual Drum Major Camp, preparing for the 2026 marching season!
During camp, they sharpened their conducting techniques and learned how to be stronger role models for their band, and built friendships with fellow student leaders from across the region. Most importantly, they brought home valuable lessons they can use to help lead the Warrior Band this fall.
“We’re looking forward most to the Friday night lights, marching competitions, and seeing how far we progress throughout the season!”
We can’t wait to see Stanley and Dylan put their leadership into action as they help guide the Warrior Band to another great season.

This summer, Noah Hix, a rising junior in Davidson High School’s IB/EPIC program, had the honor of representing our school at Alabama Governor’s School, where he embraced unique opportunities to learn, lead, and grow. Noah explored aviation by learning how to fly airplanes using RC aircraft, flight simulators, and virtual reality technology.
Beyond the hands-on experience, Noah strengthened his leadership skills and discovered new opportunities that inspired him to continue challenging himself both inside and outside the classroom.
As he looks ahead to the new school year, Noah is excited to continue learning at a high level through the IB/EPIC program while staying actively involved in soccer, cross country, chess, Hi-Q, robotics, and more.
We are proud of Noah for making the most of his summer and for representing Davidson so well!
