We are incredibly proud to share that Davidson High School’s NJROTC program has earned an “Outstanding” inspection rating and the honor of Distinguished Unit with Academic Honors for the 2025–2026 school year!
In a letter to Superintendent Threadgill, Regan J. Kieff, GS‑13, Navy JROTC Area‑16 Citizenship Development Manager, wrote:
“As a result of this outstanding team effort, Davidson NJROTC will receive an ‘Outstanding’ inspection grade. This is a particularly noteworthy achievement, as the ‘Outstanding’ designation is earned by only a select few. Out of 29 units inspected, Davidson NJROTC is one of only five to receive this honor, placing them in very distinguished company. Their program proudly serves as a model of excellence for other schools to emulate throughout Area‑16.”

🌟 Senior Spotlight: Mackenzie Conklan 🌟
Mackenzie is headed to UAB this fall to study Political Science! During her time at Davidson, Mackenzie served as a Student Ambassador all three years, proudly representing her school and mentoring others. She was a JV Volleyball setter and team leader her freshman year, a member of National Honor Society since sophomore year, and a DIMUN staff member, where she discovered her love for working behind the scenes (even while being a sergeant on not-so-great health days!).
As the founding president of Davidson’s Multicultural Club, Mackenzie planted a seed she hopes will continue to grow for years to come. She’s also incredibly proud of persevering through invisible illnesses while maintaining a strong GPA—crediting her friends for always having her back.
She gives a special thank‑you to Mr. Lowell, whose AP U.S. History class ignited her passion for human rights and social justice, and of course to her mom, Mrs. Henley, who made going to school a little more unforgettable (and whose location was always a mystery 😄).
Her advice to juniors? "Your junior year gets you those initial scholarships but senior year is just as important if not more for the additional scholarships you will absolutely need. Senior slump is real and it’s really hard to work through. PLEASE make sure you pay attention to your GPA."

Several students have entered artwork into the Congressional Art Competition, our OFS EPIC students are exploring watercolor as part of their journey through different art mediums, and our EPIC 9th graders are getting a taste of art, choir, and theatre this year.
Meanwhile, our seniors are leaving their legacy—beautifying the classroom with ceiling tiles and wrapping up their final free‑choice projects, with many choosing the always‑popular bead project. We love seeing our Warriors express themselves through art! 🖤💛

Mauricio plans to attend the University of South Alabama to major in Nursing, with long-term goals of becoming a CRNA. Throughout high school, Mauricio stayed actively involved and built an impressive résumé, including Band – Sophomore & Junior years; NTHS & NSHSS – Junior & Senior years; HOSA – Junior year; FTA & FCCLA – Senior year; and earned Google Educator Level 1 & 2 certifications, as well as CNA certification!
When reflecting on high school, Mauricio says he’ll miss Ms. Faris the most for her enthusiasm, encouragement, and constant support in helping students stay on track. He’ll also cherish the friendships and memories made along the way.
His advice:

One of his favorite memories is winning the Buccaneer Bash Tournament in 2026—a highlight of his high school soccer career.
James gives a special shoutout to Coach Lowell: “He is a good teacher, role model, and coach,” and thanks Coach DeLange “for investing so much into my soccer training and being a role model for me.”

Julia is headed to UAB as a bowling scholarship athlete. She plans to major in kinesiology and continue on to earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy, with the goal of becoming a Physical Therapist.
During her time at DHS, Julia has been involved in the following:
Bowling (4 yrs) – Team Captain all 4 years, All-County all 4 years, 1st Team All-State (2024–2026), and helped build a program from the ground up, making regionals her final two seasons
Cross Country (3 yrs) – Team Captain & Assistant Coach her senior year, Top 10 at Sectionals (2024 & 2025)
Track & Field (3 yrs)
Swim Team (2 yrs)
Beyond athletics, Julia has been active in DIMUN (PS Secretary), SGA, FCA Student Leader, IB, EPIC, a Special Olympics volunteer, Mobile USBC Youth Board Representative, and Alabama Youth State Leaders Program Mobile Representative, advocating for youth voices at the local and state level.
Her proudest moment? Watching Davidson bowling grow and thrive over four years—and being a part of that legacy.
Her favorite memory? Overnight trips to the Jesse Owens XC Meet—from team dinners to matching shorts, those moments created friendships she’ll carry for life.

Advice for future graduates: “You don’t need to have it all figured out yet. Take a deep breath, meet your deadlines, and trust in God’s plan for you.”

Sumedh Patil is headed to Auburn University to major in Aerospace Engineering, with plans to earn a Master’s and PhD after undergrad.
During high school, Sumedh was involved in JV Cross Country, Varsity Tennis, DIMUN (Russia delegate & officer), NHS, SGA, TSA, IB, and EPIC. He was also an AP Scholar with Distinction. A standout in STEM, he competed in Mobile Regional Science & Engineering Fair for two years, earning 1st place in Engineering (2025) and taking home the “Future Rocket Scientist” Award at Alabama Science & Engineering Faor, along with a $200 prize. He also conducted undergraduate-level research at the University of South Alabama, recently presenting at the Conference for Production Systems and Logistics (CPSL).
As a Robotex design team member for three years—and Head of Design this year—Sumedh helped lead the team to 1st place overall at the BEST Regionals Competition (2025).
Sumedh is especially grateful for Mr. Brewer, noting "he’s been a role model for me both academically and as a person. He’s one of my favorite teachers and my conversations with him are some of my favorite." He also thanks Mrs. Griffin: "she inadvertently taught me how to be my own person, separate from other people’s influences and shadows. She was also one of the kindest teachers I’ve had, and since having her class, I always try to show that same kindness to others."
He’ll also fondly remember cross country practices—the supportive, never-quit mindset shared by the team.
Advice for Warriors: “For everything in life, the aim should be to gain experience; if that’s your goal, then nothing you ever do will ever be a failure.”

Throughout high school, Shatha was involved in DIMUN, Project Outreach, Yearbook, Kids Club, and Special Olympics. From strengthening communication and global awareness through DIMUN, to teamwork and storytelling in Yearbook and Project Outreach, to volunteering with Kids Club and Special Olympics, Shatha developed responsibility, patience, and empathy every step of the way.
Shatha is most proud of the growth achieved over the past four years—becoming more confident, improving academically, and persevering through challenges to stay focused on graduating.

During high school, Courtland was involved in theater, excelling in acting, stage managing, costuming, and makeup, while also participating in DIMUN, GSA, NHS, and Wild Warriors.
Some of her proudest accomplishments include becoming an Azalea Trail Maid and joining a new volunteer group, The Creative Collective of Talents and Time.
Courtland says she will miss Ms. Morgan the most, sharing that she was always incredibly supportive of her goals and understanding of everything she needed.
Favorite high school memory? Hanging out backstage during the musicals.

Isabella is ready for her next chapter—stepping into the workforce with a focus on her career goals! During her time at Davidson, she was a proud member of NHS, served as Prop Head and Stage Crew in theater, and defended the goal as Varsity Soccer’s goalkeeper all four years. Isabella earned Best Tech at the state level with a three-member tech team and was honored with the Heart of the Warrior Award two years in a row for soccer. One of her favorite memories was making it to the playoffs with the varsity soccer team.
She gives thanks to Ms. Morgans and Dr. Tucker for being friendly and understanding, and a special shoutout to Mr. Delange for supporting her both on and off the soccer field.

Christy is headed toward a future in healthcare as a Pediatric CNA, driven by compassion and a desire to make a difference in the lives of children. She has also excelled academically as a proud member of the National Honor Society.
Christy gives special thanks to Ms. Scott for always seeing the good in her and pushing her to work harder and believe in herself.
Her advice to others is simple but powerful: Stay focused and always be yourself!
Christy is headed toward a future in healthcare as a Pediatric CNA, driven by compassion and a desire to make a difference in the lives of children. She has also excelled academically as a proud member of the National Honor Society.
Christy gives special thanks to Ms. Scott for always seeing the good in her and pushing her to work harder and believe in herself.
Her advice to others is simple but powerful: Stay focused and always be yourself!
🌟 Senior Spotlight: Lexie Miller 🌟
Lexie is headed to Texas after graduation to pursue cosmetology, with a heart set on helping people who can’t help themselves.
During her time at Davidson, Lexie participated in Theatre I–III, art, dance, color guard/marching band, and DIMUN. One of her proudest accomplishments has been choosing herself—and continuing to chase her goals.
Her favorite memory? Being in her first play—the rush of being the main character, the applause at the end, and celebrating that moment with loved ones.
Lexie says she’ll miss so many who tried to help her along the way: Mrs. Callais, Mrs. Schemensky, Mrs. Morgan, Mrs. Tucker, Mr. Jensen, Mr. Faris, and Nurse Ransom. A special shoutout goes to Mrs. Callais, whom Lexie describes as one of the best teachers anywhere—always caring, engaging, and inspiring students to learn.
Lexie’s advice to underclassmen:
"High school is hard, and fitting in is harder—so don’t. Be yourself. Try new things. Art is a great way to discover who you are. The right people will lift you up instead of tearing you down."

Riley has been a dedicated Marching Band member all 4 years, participated in Concert Band and Symphonic Band for 2 years each, rocked Jazz Band, and earned spots in District Honor Band and Mobile County Honor Band. Beyond music, Riley served as FCCLA President during senior year, competed in the Mac Down and Cajun Cook-offs, and stayed involved in Chess Club, Art Club, and as a Church Choir musician.
Proudest accomplishment: Making District Honor Band
Biggest influences: Dr. Beattie and Mr. Messer for constant encouragement, Mrs. Callias for making language arts fun, and Mrs. Baxter for opening the door to endless possibilities in cooking
Favorite high school memory: Cooking food with friends!
