I am originally from Bay Springs, Ms, a small town about 50 miles north of Hattiesburg. I graduated high school in 1980 and went on to get a degree in Geology from Southern Miss. I graduated in 1985, just about the time the oilfield industry went bust. For the next five years I worked in a 7-11 type store, drove trucks, worked in a manufacturing company and went back to school to become certified to teach.

I married a native of Mobile and moved here in 1995. My son Shane Michael was born in 1996 and currently attends Dodge Elementary. He is in the third grade this year. My wife, Irene, is a surgical nurse at Dauphin West Outpatient Surgery.We are also the proud parents of Dixie, our chocolate lab and Nemo our spastic cat.

In what little spare time I have left I devote to a passion for the outdoors. I truly love mountains and raging whitewater, (I often wonder why I'm in Mobile. Oh yes, my wife). One of my best memories is getting snowed on in July as we were trying to summit Grey's Peak in Colorado. In 2003 I fulfilled a 23 year old dream of going to Mt. St. Helens. It is truly a special place. I also love to read and collect model trains. Hopefully one day I'll have a place big enough to build my own railroad.
