I have taught at Davidson High School since 1998.
Foundations of Algebra, Algebra A/B, Algebra 1, GT Algebra 1, Geometry A/B, Geometry 1, GT Geometry, Algebra 2, Algebra 2 with Trigonometry, GT Algebra 2 with Trigonometry, Precalculus, GT Precalculus, Special Topics in Math, Leadership: PSAT preparation, and Leadership: ACT preparation, EPIC GT Geometry, EPIC GT Algebra 2 with Trigonometry, Robotics (EPIC), Infinity Project (EPIC), AP Calculus, International Baccalaureate (IB) Math Standard Level Year 1 (Precalculus) and Year 2 (Calculus).
The IB Precalculus and Calculus course are taught as dual enrollment courses through the University of South Alabama as MA 112 and MA 125.
Workshop and Professional Development Experience
1999- July: Hosted a 1-week mini-workshop for Texas Instruments Teachers Teaching with Technology at Davidson High School
2000- March: Attended Texas Instruments International Conference for Teachers Teaching with Technology workshop in Dallas, TX
2000- July: Hosted two 3-day workshop for middle and high school teachers on using technology in the math classroom for South Alabama Research and Inservice Center
2001- March: Presented at the Texas Instruments International Conference for Teachers Teaching with Technology workshop in Columbus, OH
2001- June: Presented a 2-day technology workshop for the Maysville Math Initiative
2001- July: Presented a workshop at the South Alabama Mathematics Symposium in Daphne for teachers in Baldwin County.
2001- November: Alabama Council of Teachers of Mathematics conference at Auburn University in Montgomery; presented a workshop and co-presented with Joe Eiland.
2002- July: Presented the Teacher Resources for Instructional Planning (TRIP) (www.tripforteachers.org) website to teachers at the Alabama Educational Technology Conference in Birmingham.
2002- August: Trained teachers at Davidson High School on the use of the TRIP website
2002- Presented a variety of staff development workshops for teachers in the Mobile County Public School System. Topics included Microsoft Excel for Math Teachers, Cleaning Windows [operating system], and using Microsoft FrontPage.
2003- April-July: Served on the Mathematics Leadership Team that wrote the course of study for Mobile County and chose textbooks
2003- Summer: Presented workshops for Technology development for Mobile county high school teachers in a 2-week workshop, and a 2-week workshop for middle school teachers
2003- March: Radio Shack National Tech Tools Award Recipient
2003- November: Presented a workshop to train teachers to use Microsoft FrontPage to update the TRIP website
2003- November: Awarded the Alfa Insurance Teacher of the Year
2003- December: Awarded the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award.
2004- April: Awarded the Mobile County Public Schools Secondary Teacher of the Year
March 2004- Attended the Texas Instruments Teachers Teaching with Technology international conference in New Orleans, Louisiana
2004- Summer: Presented workshops for the Instructional Technology department for Mobile county high school teachers in a 4 week-long workshops for Middle-High, and Elementary teachers.
2004- July: Attended a workshop for the BEST Robotics Competition to be held in September.
